Emergence…Artistic Nude Project
Tracie Eaton’s new artistic endeavor ‘Emergence‘ is an 11 month project designed to facilitate her connection to her creative self. By using her body as the canvas for her creations, Tracie truly lives her art & integrates Body Art and Acrylic Painting.
Emergence is about helping women connect with their beauty, power, strength and awesomeness! So often there are times when we feel powerless, lost. Tracie’s intention with Emergence is to help women understand that our power & beauty lies within us…we only need to connect with it & embrace it.
From each photo shoot, unedited images were released to showcase the process, so viewers could live the body art creative experience…each step at a time. And see the end result. The final images only have lighting and colour edited for creative effect (e.g. the background is darkened). Tracie’s body remains unedited. The release of unedited images was vital to this project…raw, natural beauty is the essence of Emergence.
Emergence is a collaborative art project, with Tracie becoming her art. Tracie Eaton Original artworks are raw, bold, passionate and inspired by the colours of nature & very textured. This same effect was created on her body.
The first photo shoot “Raw Vulnerability’ was a simple design. Tracie was body painted in metallic silver, and photographed in water. Purposefully, this shoot was done in winter. Tracie knew the smooth silver paint would not provide any texture, but goosebumps would….so being cold was part of this series of images. The photoshoot took 1 1/2 hrs to complete, in freezing water. The result – naturally textured skin. Suzi Dent & Bruce Coulter assisted on this first photo shoot. Suzi painted Tracie & Bruce photographed and assisted with post production of imagery.
This was Tracie’s first photo shoot ever & was influenced by the vulnerability she has felt when embracing her art & showing the world who she truly is. About ‘coming out’…showing the world, and herself that connecting with self, and the art of creating, is beautiful. This is the only piece that shows no added in texture, truly depicting the ‘nakedness’ Tracie was feeling.
For the remainder of the project Tracie is worked with Sharon Hawker (photographer & artist) to bring her creations to life on her body. All post production is completed by Tracie.
The second series of images took place 6wks later. This was a challenging shoot with Tracie being unable to move due to injury. This was the first series whereby Tracie painted herself in a very textured fashion.
The remaining body art and photo shoots occurred in January 2017.
The process for each of the pieces in this project is incredible, taking months & plenty of creativity!!
Prior to each photo shoot, Tracie creates many of the props used in each shoot that are stuck to her body, or used around her to build the environment she is looking for. Tracie paints herself as much as she physically can on the day of the photo shoot, with Sharon assisting for those hard-to-reach places!
Post photo shoot & before releasing artworks for sale, Tracie adjusts the lighting, tone and backgrounds to create exactly the energy of each piece. Images are then printed on canvas for Tracie to then texturize with paint…adding a second aspect to artistically creating artworks from the body art creation.
All body art took place initially in studio, with final touches and photo shoots finished off in nature, in various locations around the Gold Coast. A great way to share the amazing region she lives in.
Following completion of this project, all original pieces will be showcased and available for purchase in an ‘Emergence’ Artistic Event in early April 2017.
Emergence is a deeply personal project, but one she hopes other women will draw strength and confidence from.
