Description
‘Journey to Being’ is the final series of images in Tracie Eaton’s creative project – ‘Emergence’. ‘Emergence’ is designed to showcase the power & beauty of women, along with emphasising Tracie Eaton’s ‘Emergence’ back into full-time creative work. Tracie used her own body as a canvas for the Emergence series…yes…she painted herself – with help from Sharon Hawker to get to those hard to reach places!
For this body of work, Tracie painted her body in browns & layered over this thick PVA glue. She then put handfuls of sand into the glue, so that as it dried, and Tracie moved, it started to crack and peel. The end result was that Tracie had what looked like peeling skin…representative of shedding that which does not serve you.
the Journey to Being photo shoot was shot on a public beach in the middle of the day to ensure very harsh sun and lighting..adding to the arid and dry feeling of each artwork.
With each ‘Emergence’ piece, no body parts are edited, the intent to showcase Tracie in her raw form. The only editing that occurs with all photos is lighting, toning and effects for creative impact. The ‘Grounded in my Connection’ series of images highlights the beauty and strength of vulnerability…and of letting go.
